Datura Glow
The Datura Glow photographs have an intimacy grown out of a time of confinement. During the societal upheaval of CoVid, my garden was the place I could go for solace. The “Sacred” Datura flower blooms after sundown, lasting through the night and typically perishes by noon the next day. Also called Moonflower, it offers an intoxicating perfume and lush petal, strong yet transparent to the light. Photographing these flowers - exploring their brief lives - became a ritualistic experience for me. The results are photographs that, like nature morte paintings, celebrate the fleeting nature of existence.
