Photography supplies are
not cheap. I suggest you buy as much as you can afford at the time as buying
in bulk saves money. Partner up with co-buyers for better prices.
Remember, you can sell some of this stuff to next semesters intro students
if you are taking this as a one time only course!
Film: Ilford HP5 Plus
(400 ISO) 36 exposures (option Kodak Tri-X 400)
Please do not get Kodak TMAX or Ilford Delta
You will use at least 16-20 rolls this semester
Paper: Ilford RC multigrade
deluxe 8x10 100 sheets to start
This paper comes in normal, cold or warm tone; glossy, pearl or matte surfaces.
I suggest you try normal or cold tone w/pearl surface to start.
Camera: you will need
a 35mm SLR (single lens reflex) camera that can be made fully manual - this
means that both your aperture and shutter speed controls can be adjusted.
If you do not have a camera, you have three options:

Gray card, Negative sleeves, 3-ring binder for negs, development tank (suggestion
plastic two reel tank), multigrade filters (Ilford 6 inch square set), dust
off/ blower/ anti-static cloth (orange soft cloth), thermometer, lens cleaner
and tissue loupe, scissors, towel
Later in the semester:
mounting board and mounting tissue

service for students with their rental program. Please treat their cameras with
respect and bring them back in a timely fashion.
**For Intro Photo classes (ART 1600/1605/ 1607) you are expected to process
your own black and white film. Film or prints found to be professionally processed
will not be counted towards your grade.
