Review of Traditional and Intro to Digital Cameras/ Intro to Lab/Photoshop/Scanning

Assign #1 Team assignment - create a series of 5 images each using words; Check out Mavicas from Karl Oman (VK25 M-F 10am-noon) and bring to class on Friday. Bring in at least one disk - purchase in Computer Corner.

Week Two

1/28-30

Lecture:      Pinhole to Digital/ discuss reading

Uses of digital imagery: Color/ Montage/ Photoshop

Discuss Semester assignments

Assignment #2 Color - due week 5

Assign reading/WebX

Explore Photoshop: resolution and sizing images for viewing; color techniques

Week Three

Critique Team Assignment (#1) Present in Photoshop website format

Week Four

Collage/Deconstruction/ Fantasy/ appropriation

Photoshop: montage/ selection and blending techniques

Photoshop/ Open lab if possible

Week Five

Review websites via WebX: Review websites -- Research and discuss a website using photo based art - discuss it in terms of image presentation; appropriateness to digital: ie: did the imagery start out as digital, is it enhanced by its presentation, might it be better accessed live/hard copy....? Be prepared to present your chosen site - may compare and contrast two sites. Due week 10
